As far as possible, I have tried to create a faithful representation of the original book. Like the game, it has a quirky charm all of its own.
The navigation links in the sidebar are the chapter and section headings from the book; you can jump around pages of the book as you wish. Alternatively, you can read the entire book in the order in which is was printed by following the “Next: ” link at the bottom of each page, starting with this one.
Nota Bene: So that you know when you're reading from the original book, the images will be in grayscale (black & white), just as they are in the book, and the original fonts will be used.
The rest of the pages in this handbook which weren't in the original book will have color images, and will generally use standard fonts for blocks of text.
It seems that certain aspects of CaesarIII's game-play may have been altered at the last minute prior to the game's release but after the book had gone to print. Consequently, the book is occasionally wrong, such as where it states that Reservoirs require workers, or Gatehouses need road access.
In these places, I have left the original text intact but I have taken the liberty of striking through the erroneous information.
One particular example is page 210 in the description of a Medium Statue, which says, and I quote, “what the hell is this shit” :D
Photographic proof:
I have added some images of buildings which are mentioned in the text but don't have an accompanying image in the margin.
Obvious typos have been corrected. Unnecessarily male-centric text has been rewritten.
Finally, as you will see, the creators of CaesarIII couldn't decide whether to go with the English or the US spelling of Labour/Labor. I have declined to make the decision for them so all the inconsistencies in the book have been kept
